Melissa M. Gomez, Ph.D.
Nationally known jury consultant and the President of MMG Jury Consulting, LLC, Dr. Melissa M. Gomez holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola University Maryland. She has worked on over 500 jury trials across the United States with a focus on the psychology of learning, behavior and decision-making. She has two decades of professional expertise in research design and methodology, as well as in behavioral and communication skills training. Dr. Gomez is the author of the book, Jury Trials Outside In: Leveraging Psychology from Discovery to Decision, published by LexisNexis and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).
Dr. Gomez has provided jury consulting services that include designing and conducting mock trials and focus groups; assisting with witness preparation and jury selection; and developing educational and persuasive strategies for trial. She has provided CLE lectures for many legal and academic groups including the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the National Seminar for Federal Defenders, the Product Liability Advisory Committee, and the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference.
Dr. Gomez has appeared on Fox News, NBC's "10! Show," CNN's "In Session," MSNBC's "PoliticsNation" and National Public Radio's "Morning Edition." She has been quoted in multiple news publications including The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Baltimore Sun, and The Patriot and had published several articles in the Legal Intelligencer, For the Defense and The Jury Expert.
Dr. Gomez resides in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia with her husband, twin sons and Australian Shepherd named Figaro.
